As Omotola got out of her apartment that morning, she noticed her neighbour, Patrick had gotten a Boerboel puppy. She smiled as she admired the dog. Its big brown eyes, with the tongue dangling from its mouth, was an amazing sight to behold. Still looking the puppy, Omotola decided she was going to get one herself. So, later in the day, she stopped at a Pet center, and bought a seven-week old puppy of the same breed.
To her dismay however, four months later, Frodo, her dog weighed less than 15kg. The outlines of his ribs were prominent, and on close observation, Omotola noticed ticks as well. When Frodo started being anorexic, she panicked and ran to Patrick whose puppy had being doing well since its purchase.
Usually, most pet parents do not realise that keeping these lovely animals, come with the responsibility of ensuring their health and welfare. After providing feeding and housing for these amazing creatures, other necessary ideals may be forgotten. Here, I would make a list of three of the required things your pets would need.
Registration at a certified Veterinary hospital: At the clinic, qualified Vets would ensure your Pet's vaccination and de worming is updated. Thorough clinical examination are performed routinely, tests carried out and appropriate drugs administered. I consider this a very important step, because timely vaccination prevents enormous hospital bills, from diseases that could have been prevented.
A personal grooming kit: There's nothing as annoying as pets with overgrown nails, smelly hair coat and dirty aural canals. Buying your pet's grooming kit, enables you do the necessary grooming practices at your leisure. It prevents your animal from looking unkempt and you, from being irresponsible.
A Vet-recommended anti-parasitic agent: When this solution is used according to given instructions, you can be sure your pet is free from ticks, fleas and myasis worms.
There are other tips regarding pet health and welfare, ensure proper and timely consultation with your Veterinary Doctor to keep your pets in a healthy state. Remember that having a pet can be fun, and enjoyable if proper care is taken. Healthy Pets make a happy and fulfilled owner.
